If you are considering rolling out an eLearning strategy within your company to help your staff to develop their skills then you want to be sure that the type of strategy you employ is going to give you the best results possible.
eLearning is a valuable tool in education. But, how can we ensure that we maximize the potential of those who are engaged in eLearning? Certainly, if there is content we expect people to learn, we want that content to “stick” in their minds and to be something they can recall later. Personalizing learning, which must include making the eLearning more human, is one important way to maximize the potential from eLearning.
Incorporating different tools to your current eLearning training strategy isn’t enough. eLearning professionals must understand and embrace the meaning and the implications of these changes in the eLearning development process. This is not an easy task because it not only means they have to change what they do, but how they think.
How do you learn best? What learning activities are the most motivational to you? How do you interact with other learners? What do you struggle with when learning new information or mastering a new skill? Understanding your own learning style and preferences is an excellent place to start when considering the benefits of a learner-centered eLearning model.
The best blended learning curriculums are learner-centered; they are designed with the learner in mind, with each individual component of the blend involving the participant in a personal way.

Gamification is learner-centered. It can be customized to accommodate student differences, can motivate students to put more effort into learning and help student increase their own responsibility for directing their own learning. Both types of gamification (structural and content) lead to learner-centered outcomes.
There are a lot of articles that say "here are the most important things in designing elearning". But I think this one really boils it down to the essentials: Challenge, Engagement, Personalization, Control, Collaboration, and Relevance.
